Most of the discussion about upstream management seems to have been about restoring wetland and slowing flow.

That's not to say that a lot of numbskulls weren't just shouting "Dredging!" so that they had something to shout. The issue was also tied up with resentment of prioritisation for wildlife living along river banks rather than keeping the banks clear.Brynnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9093436161326155359.post-80516393677146054852014-04-14T09:47:15.077+01:002014-04-14T09:47:15.077+01:00Dear Rachel and Victor,
you probably have noticed...Dear Rachel and Victor,

you probably have noticed already that The Netherlands does have a Delta Programme Commissioner. An official who has to streamline all social, technical and security aspects. Communication is paramount. See the following Sub programme overview for regions and sections of dikes. A wonderfull resource of ideas.
http://www.deltacommissaris.nl/english/topics/sub-programmes/

And we are exporting our knowledge and try to make money out of it. :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9093436161326155359.post-43343262951017830412014-04-14T09:27:09.533+01:002014-04-14T09:27:09.533+01:00I think it means Victor that your arguments are so...I think it means Victor that your arguments are so sound that no-one could possibly disagree with what you've written. :-)Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09129841408329015509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9093436161326155359.post-845165534687882222014-04-13T10:55:13.800+01:002014-04-13T10:55:13.800+01:00:o) I guess this post is one for Stoats-rule. It is surprisingly well reader, I was afraid the title would be too incomprehensible.Victor Venemahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02842816166712285801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9093436161326155359.post-89848536638326352992014-04-13T07:52:56.264+01:002014-04-13T07:52:56.264+01:00I really want to comment on this Victor but don...I really want to comment on this Victor but don't really have anything sensible to say other than I think the Dutch approach to water management is wonderful and I love the photo of Henk Ovink in the NYTimes article. The collaborative approach sounds so obvious too that it's hard to understand why anyone would not follow it.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09129841408329015509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9093436161326155359.post-66900803014941902552014-04-12T22:16:52.200+01:002014-04-12T22:16:52.200+01:00Dear Pieter, thanks for catching my error.
